There are still places
The maximum number of competitors for the TDS has not quite been achieved ! There are still a few places, but hurry ! We would like to remind you that there has been a "small" change; the start is from Courmayeur on Friday at midnight and everybody will finish in Chamonix. [Click here]
Medical certificate
This year, you may send your medical certificate by e-mail! Attention though as you must send a scan of the original certificate. Reminder : the specific medical certificate can be found as an attachment with the confirmation e-mail which you received confirming your registration.
Runner's guide
For everybody : the runner's guide and the route maps will be down-loadable from each registered person's runner's file as of the beginning of June. For those who opted for a paper version, they will be sent out during June.
Courir pour Toi
The UTMB® has had, from the beginning, a partnership with the charity COURIR POUR TOI which receives at least 1€ for each registration for this event...
We would like to enrich this partnership and have the following ambition:
- To run the 2010 UTMB® by accompanying 4 handicapped people on 4 different sections of the route which will be indentified as compatible with the following values :
- - The dignity of the accompanied person
- - Realistic sportsmanship
- - Sharing together a sporting challenge
If, as a competitor for the UTMB® registered for 2010, you wish to share this human adventure or have more information, please consult our web site :

Did you know ?
Repatriation by helicopter costs between 800 and 3000 euros. Every year, some runners are caught out by not having made sufficient arrangements. However, the rules of the Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® demand that you will have individual insurance.Too many runners are negligent about this essential rule. For only 35 euros, the annual Ultrafondus "Multi-Endurances" card is exactly what you need. It gives you a ‘Europ Assistance’ guarantee, for a large range of sports, valid world-wide, should you be training, on reconnaissance or running a race, for French and European citizens.

Change of direction !
The TDS, in its 2009 format, did not sufficiently fulfill one of the objectives made at its creation, which was knowing how to satisfy the largest number of runners possible, at the same time as balancing the number of registrations between the different events.
The message from the competitors couldn’t be ignored. After numerous discussions with the communes concerned, notably with Courmayeur and Chamonix, it was decided to reverse the direction of the TDS. The runners will now be able to benefit from the superb starting line in Courmayeur, identical to that of the CCC®, and cross the finish line in Chamonix just like all the other finishers.
The start of the TDS will be from Courmayeur on Friday August 27th 2010 at midnight. This time was chosen after studying the different possibilities and bearing in mind the security of the competitors. The definitive route has not as yet been determined but it will be announced in the coming weeks.
The change of direction of the TDS has been very well received by the competitors, of whom now more than 1,100 have registered for this event.
With the 2010 version of this event, around 160km and 6,600m of positive height gain; the TDS presents itself as a difficult mountain race, which must be completed in less than 31 hours if you want to obtain the title of ‘finisher’. [More information] |

| 2011 registration A few small adjustments |
Following the enthusiasm in registering for the 2010 events, we were obliged to make a draw for places on the UTMB® and the CCC® and as a result, to turn down almost 1,400 registrations…This was not very satisfactory for us, we do not have the vocation for making certain runners unhappy. In order to manage the large number of runners wishing to participate in one of our events, we have made several changes for the 2011 registration.
Outlined as follows:
- reduction to a period of 2 years (rather than 3) to acquire the necessary points (for the 2011 registration, the points must have been acquired in 2009 and 2010)
- reduction to a period of 3 years (rather than 5) to acquire the points from our own events (for the 2011 registration we will only take in to account the results from the 2008,2009 and 2010 CCC®, TDS and UTMB® )
- necessity to acquire 5 points, from a maximum of two races, for the UTMB®, rather than 4 points.

| In words Four races in brief |
Each year we offer you four events, among the most difficult that there are each with its own charm, their attractions, and their exigencies...
UTMB® (Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc®) - The queen of races
Since the first event, it has been called the ‘race of all the superlatives’. With 166 km and 9,400 m of positive height gain to be completed in a maximum of 46 hours, the UTMB® is your favourite race, a complete tour of Mont-Blanc, and one that each ‘ultra’ runner must finish once in their lives.
CCC® (Courmayeur-Champex-Chamonix) - The way in
The CCC® is considered by the majority of runners as the ‘petite’. All the same, it is also one of the most difficult ultra-trail challenges in France with 98 km and 5,600m of positive height gain, to be finished in less then 26 hours. Do not take the CCC® lightly; more than one runner has had burning thighs.
TDS (Sur les Traces des Ducs de Savoie) - The wild alternative
Wilder than the two previous events and in the opposite direction, the TDS leaves from Courmayeur to arrive in Chamonix a long a route of 106 km, 6,600m of positive height gain and to be completed in less than 31 hours. A relatively unusual view of the perimeters of the Mont-Blanc and Beaufort landscapes.
PTL (Petite Trotte à Léon) - A great team adventure
A strikingly beautiful event, whose route continually overhangs the route of the UTMB®, including high, steep sections. If you like solitude, solidarity and have a sense of adventure, it is that which will inspire you to register for this event. 240 km, 18,000m of positive height gain with, this year, the possibility of entering as a team of 2. |
